Phil Evans is part owner in R&D. While he is an excellent bricklayer, he has done everything from being a hod carrier to estimating projects. His primary responsibility is in the field, on site, overseeing projects, however, don't be surprised if you see him throwing brick and block "in the wall" along side his employees as he organizes and delegates the next steps in the project. Phil understands that a company is only as good as it's employees. By setting the example, sharing his knowledge and working directly with the employees, Phil personally takes responsibility in ensuring the field employees are the best in the industry.
"I believe everyone should pick up a lunch box, walk out the door to a job they are good at and not complain when things get tough but realize they are putting food on the table for their family."
Phil is originally from Wales where his strong work ethic was developed growing up on the family farm. Trained in bricklaying at Coleg Powys located in Brecon, Powys, Wales, Phil moved to Seattle with his American bride where he quickly earned his apprenticeship with Local 1 and went to work for several masonry companies in the area before becoming partners with Don in R&D.
Phil is a machine when it comes to bricklaying: fast, efficient, and precise. If there was a machine built to lay brick it would use Phil as the blueprint and be called the Phil 5000. He instills his "no excuse" "can do" attitude in every employee by setting the example. Safety, quality, and efficiency can not be separated and none of them can be used as an excuse for failure in another one. "I love my job."
