BIM for Masonry (BIM-M) is an international movement working to implement masonry materials and systems into BIM software. R&D Masonry has been detailing BIM masonry models for the last 5 years. We have a method that allows us to create models with varying levels of detail to accommodate the project. We have been using Building Information Modeling and in the process have attended BIM coordination meetings, provided detailed masonry shop drawings, material orders, and schedule updates from the model. We feel we are leading the curve with the implementation of BIM into our construction process.
